Apple Crumble

This is one of the greats and we make this ALL the time. It’s so simple and can be whipped up for a simple weekday dinner or to dazzle your guests. Also, important to note, it keeps really well and is perfect for the next day. Also freezes well so make it your own and enjoy.

Necessary details

Preheat oven to 180 degrees.

Cooking time 45 – 50 mins.

Pan Size 9x13.

Serves 10-12.

Ingredients

  • Approx. 10 peeled green apples (6 cups) or whatever fruit you want to use. You can mix them up but our favourite is sliced apples.

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ¼ cup of water

  • 2 cups brown sugar

  • 2 cups of oatmeal

  • 1.5 cups of flour

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • ¾ cup butter (melted)

  • Optional: ½ cup washed raisins, ¼ cup chopped walnuts.

Method

  1. Butter your 9x13 pan (generously) and add your apples.

  2. Add your sugar over the entire pan of apples and sprinkle the salt and your ¼ cup of water.

  3. In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar, oats flour and cinnamon. Add the melted butter to this mixture and mix together.

  4. Crumble over the apples and bake.

  5. Let the smell permeate your home.

  6. Serve with ice cream, heavy cream or on its own.
